Seven general election candidates to contest Monmouth constituency

Monmouthshire County Council

Seven candidates have indicated that they intend contesting the parliamentary constituency of Monmouth in the forthcoming UK general election.

Nominations closed yesterday (Thursday, 9th April) at 4pm.

The seven candidates are:

  • Jonathan Thomas Clark (Plaid Cymru)

  • David Thomas Charles Davies (Welsh Conservative Party)

  • Gareth Dunn (United Kingdom Independence Party)

  • Veronica Kathleen German (Liberal Democrat)

  • Ruth Lorraine Jones (Welsh Labour)

  • Stephen Morris (English Democrats)

  • Chris Were (Green Party)

The general election will be held on Thursday, 7th May and the counting of votes for the Monmouth constituency takes place that evening from 10pm at Chepstow Leisure Centre.

Only people registered on the electoral roll will be able to vote in the general election - applications to register must be received no later than Monday, 20th April.  Residents who are not yet registered may register to vote online at: www.gov.uk/registertovote

Applications for postal votes must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 21st April.  Application forms are available by contacting Monmouthshire’s elections office on 01633 644212.
