Chippenham Surgery has been providing medical care to local patients since approximately 1840, when a Dr. Holbrook commenced practice from the old Chippenham House. Since then we have grown to provide care for a list size currently standing at 11,500 patients - and increasing.
We have eight GPs working at the surgery. The practice encourages its healthcare professionals to develop their own professional development plans, allowing individuals time to teach and study. We are also a training practice for Year 5 medical students and approved for training Registrars.
We consider ourselves to be an integrated team providing quality care to our patients and are all highly committed to achieving this aim.
Wherever possible Chippenham Surgery's mission is to devote resources to the total care of the patient. Whilst our primary concern is of course healthcare, this by no means excludes an effective concern for the patients emotional and psychological care.
We believe that patients are in charge of their healthcare. We will help patients to make the right treatment decisions for themselves by sharing the treatment options clearly and comprehensively and will always take into account the views of patients when developing our services.
As a practice and as individuals we are committed to operating according to the ethos of equality. Our aim and intention is to treat our patients with dignity and respect at all times and to provide the same standard of care irrespective of race, gender, social class, age, religion, sexual orientation or appearance, disability or medical condition. We apply this policy both in terms of the treatment of existing patients and when accepting new patients onto our Practice list.
